The more you know....Texas Lakes edition

So you know those times you're having a casual conversation and some one throws out a random fact and you immediately google it to check its validity.  Well that happened Sunday while chilling in the pool. Phone wasn't accessible as we were treading around in everyone's pee.  You know you do it. Don't try to deny it.  I remembered the statement this morning while on hold with Comcast trying to get the Internet to work. And after 30+ mins on the line they tell me there is an outage in the area.  Yea I checked that first.

Thomas (if you don't know him you should) said that Lake Livingston was the largest lake in Texas.  Then said it may be the largest man made lake when we questioned him.  When you are talking about largest lakes there are some factors you have to discern, I discovered.  If we're talking about largest lake totally within Texas borders well that honor goes to Lake Sam Rayburn with Lake Livingston being second.  Caddo Lake is the only "natural" lake in Texas but was altered by a dam in the 1900s so some don't call it natural anymore. Plus part of it is in Louisiana.  Toledo Bend Reservoir is largest man made lake but is only partially in Texas.  So what I take from this is everything is bigger in Texas even if we have to make it ourselves, which that's the only we get lakes in these parts.

Opt out. Opt in.
This is where I got this pic

There are a few things I would like to opt out of lately. This isn't complaining...I think. Just simple observations for the most part. But all could be made better by opting in to a better option.  Cause isn't life all rainbows, candy and unicorns.

- I would like to opt out of traffic. Usually I don't have to sit in it but when they are doing work on a traffic light and it takes an hour to get through an intersection, shoot me now. But I will opt in for a driver.
- I would like to opt out of customers who complain about business and then negate any idea that I give them. I will opt in to them just disappearing.
- I opt out of businesses with dirty bathrooms. Clean that room up. Pride in my opinion is what it all boils down to and that extra step.  I would like to opt in to all places having bathrooms like the one at the resort lobby of Now Jade in the Mayan Riveria.
- I would love to opt out of working and opt in to being independently wealthy.
- Opting out of pants that don't fit.  down side if there is one to losing weight. meh But would like to opt in to having a personal tailor.

What do you want to opt out. opt in. to this week???

I'm a runner?!?!

Every time I go out to run, I still can't believe it's me running.  I've never liked to excercise. I've never had to.  Although I should have started a couple years ago.  I don't run fast. I don't run for long periods. I usually run between 20 and 30 minutes.  I usually run 4-6 times per week.  I started by running on the treadmill. I would watch tv or read at times and couldn't understand how people didn't like the treadmill.  Then I started running outside and haven't been back to the treadmill unless forced to by rain.  My outfits have to match and look cute.  I'm convinced that cute workouts are part of my motivation.  I've stuck to it for 3+ months now and I will use or find any motivation to continue for even longer. I've called myself a runner to others once maybe twice and only recently.  It's weird to say but hey I'm going to own it.  Now I must go stretch because that's a very important part to this health thing as well.

Does it Really Matter...

  • I like to go into a bank or pharmacy and will not go through the drive thru but can not stand dealing with workers at the post office.  I will even leave if the automated machine is not working.  True story
  • 5 more weeks till Cabo.  I must squat more. oh and work on my arms.
  • I had more ideas for this post but when I sat down none of them came to me.  Must start writing my thoughts down.  I'm getting old and can't remember anything.
  • I could live in work out clothes but for some reason I have to wear regular clothes to work.  Whoever made that rule sucks.
  • I have a mild obsession with Tyson's Honey battered Chicken Breast Tenders.
  • I either am going to have to wake up in the morning or run later in the evenings because early evening heat/humidty is almost too much already.
  • I love the motivation from my mapyourwalk app.  Although it should be mapmyrun as of now but they both do the same job. So who really cares which app it is...ok sometimes I do just for my mental state for a workout. But then at the end of the run the app always tells me I did a good job and it's all good.

The Great American novel....

I've had several blog posts bumping around in my head but for some reason I just haven't made the time to sit down and write. I have been making the time to re-read The Great Gatsby. I'm almost finished, which is a good thing because the movie comes out this weekend!!!!! I had been told that reading it as an adult is quite different than reading it while in high school. And it is so true. It's more scandalous than I remember and a much deeper look into the "American dream." The movie was suppose to come out this past Christmas but just like the book and its view of the excessiveness of the rich, the producers or whomever pushed it back to a summer release for better crowds. So while the forecast for the weekend calls for rain and usually that's a bummer, it will be the perfect excuse to go to the movies.
