Sunday Dinner - Philly Cheese Steak Sandwiches

Sundays are usually the only night during the week that Jarad and I have dinner together. So on those nights we sit at the table and enjoy a "family dinner." Tonight I made a crock pot recipe from my Better Homes and Garden crock pot cookbook. It was super easy. The recipe called for flank steak but I used a thin sirloin because it was on sale. You brown the 1 lb or so piece(s) on both side on medium high heat. Place a cup of sliced onion and a sliced pepper on bottom of crock pot. Sprinkle on 1 1/2 teaspoon of italian seasoning. Place meat on top and then pour a can of beef broth over and cook for 5-6 hours on high. Assemble the sandwiches on a crusty bun with provolone cheese and horseradish mayo. I found a horseradish dijon mayo that was so good. Served the sandwiches with sweet potato fries and voila a pretty inexpensive (about $10 for entire meal depending on what ingredients you may have in cupboard)and a yummy dinner.
